Green House Ventures is significantly ramping up food production in Cameroon by building hundreds of greenhouses across the country, extending this innovative technology to neighboring African nations as well. With agriculture making up 14.2% of Cameroon’s GDP and employing nearly 58% of the labor force, the country still heavily relies on food imports, especially for staple foods. This reliance has led to high rates of malnutrition, especially in rural communities.
Initiatives by modern agricultural entrepreneurs like Roland Fomundam, who returned to Cameroon after studying in the US, are proving pivotal. His commercial push for greenhouse technology is enabling local crops to withstand environmental challenges and produce higher yields, offering hope that the country may soon reduce its dependency on imports. As greenhouse farming continues to expand, Cameroon stands at the threshold of renewed agricultural self-sufficiency and economic opportunity.
